[Hey, haven't you seen this face before, Luceti? Isn't it usually more frown-y, and doesn't that guy wear black?

...Nah, it can't be the same guy, this guy seems so much more exuberant in comparison.]

Got it to work! I am Emmet! I am a Subway Boss. I like trains. I like combinations of two Pokémon. If you have Pokémon, we'll have to battle sometime!

Right! I see a lot of people disembarked on this station instead of the next - I am from the most recent arrival on the schedule! But Ingo is showing me around, so I don't need that much help.

And for those of you who were taking care of my brother while I was away, thank you! He's fussy, but he's a good guy.

Right! We battle together - we're some of the best when we fight side-by-side!

You fight two at a time? Is that fair?

Not when we have two opponents! On the multi train, challengers partner up to challenge us.

Oh. That actually sounds pretty nice! You have a special train for these battles?

Yes! We have eight separate trains for different methods and difficulties in battling!

Wow, really? I didn't imagine it would be that organized. There must be a lot of thought put into this Pokemon battling stuff.

There is! We establish a lot of rules to make the competition interesting, and keep everyone safe! Battle starts, the train disembarks, and everyone smiles!

Neat! I bet it can't be bad if everyone's smiling. Even the Pokemon?

Yes! Of course! Everyone's smiling!

That's amazing! I'm smiling just thinking about it!

Yes! It's amazing! Everyone has fun on the Battle Subway!

It sure sounds like a fun place! Almost makes me wish I had Pokemon.

It's a special friendship! A trainer and his first Pokémon!

Really? [He finds himself thinking about Masaomi with Linda, as well as what Red said about his Pikachu, and Platina about her own Pokemon.] I can kinda understand that. I don't have a Pokemon, but I do have a strong bond with my pet sky bison.

What's a sky bison?

[It sounds so interesting!]

They're the companions of my people, the air nomads! We each bond with a sky bison for life when we're young. They're the original Airbenders and use airbending to fly around. [He takes a moment to glance offscreen.] I can actually give you a look at him right now!

[Aang holds the journal out the window of the house; on the lawn, Appa can be seen lazing in the sunlight.]

Whoa! That's impressive! He looks like a Pokémon, too.

[Much more than the other fauna in the area, at least.]

What's air bending?

I get that a lot.

And airbending's an ability from my world. There are people there who can bend the elements. And airbending is- you know, would it make it easier if I just said that it's like the flying type for people?

Humans can use it? Fascinating!

[Not completely unheard of - humans have been known to have great psychic powers.]

Is that common in your world? Where humans have those abilities instead of the fauna?

I guess that's one way of putting it! I think it's random whether or not people can bend - some people can, some people just can't. And there are a few animals who can bend too, and they're the ones who taught people how to bend. [As if going through a mental checklist of topics that come up whenever he talks to a Pokemon trainers...] Also, we only have four elements.

It doesn't sound too different! That's amazing!

It sounds like your world could have been a lot like ours.

You think so? We don't have enough animals with powers, though. And... no offense, but I wouldn't be comfortable with putting Appa in a ball.
