[There's always a lot of activity going on in the midst of the village. People shuffling about and chatting as they go about their day, others still spending time with friends and family. Still, it's not always the most excited place, as most people training take to the forests or to the Battle Dome.

So when a grown man starts running through the streets with a bizarre, brightly feathered bird-like dinosaur creature, it's a bit stirring! The creature runs along with its legs, flapping its wings at times to try and glide to gain speed, staying just ahead of its master until Emmet takes the tennis ball in his hand and throws it as hard as he can in the air.

The bird races along the ground by foot, at incredible speeds, before taking off in flight. It swooped upwards catching the ball in its mouth before dropping back down and catching itself on the side of a building, gripping it until gliding back down on the ground and running back to Emmet to return the ball to him.

All in all, it's quite a silly looking game, as Archeops, despite running at incredibly startling speeds, looks like a chicken as it runs. And Emmet himself is running around, a big ol' smile on his face like always.]

Good girl! Let's do it again, alright? Once more down the line!

[Rinse, lather, repeat!]

Oh! I revived her from a fossil! I found the plume fossil on my journey, when I was younger!

Oh, how wonderful! Finding a Pokemon fossil is an incredibly lucky find, and certainly a rare and invaluable taste to experience to befriend the Pokemon that's revived from it--it's an amazing marriage of past and present~! To be quite honest, I've only seen a Pokemon like this once or twice in person before...

[And both times Team Rocket tried to steal the revived Pokemon but that's neither here nor there--but yes, oh my god, fossils are so cool. Pansage seems interested about it too as it gives Archeops a wave from where it's clinging to Cilan's shoulder. Sup!]

They can be quite rare! I feel very lucky to know her. She is a wonderful Pokémon!

[Snuggle snuggle, he doesn't even mind her clawing up his jacket some.]

Mm, I can tell! I imagine that she's quite an asset when it comes to fighting against opponents on the Battle Subway!

[(That poor jacket though, how many have you guys had to go through with them constantly being damaged by Pokemon or subway battles... ^^;;)]

All of my Pokémon are! They're all very strong. I'm proud of them!

[Aww, it's always such a joy to hear people talk about how much they love their Pokemon~]

Happy to hear it~! Though, of course, it'll be interesting to see that strength for myself in a battle someday--but I expect the Pokemon of a Subway Boss to naturally have a challenging flavor to taste. [Something Cilan already knows since he's battled both of you once before, but that battle is one that never happened for the two of you in your world.]

[Nope! Probably because they don't do triple battles on the Battle Subway, maybe then they'd run into the trio.]

[Really? Cilan's a little surprised at the offer, but he nods.]

Sure, we'd love to! [Even Pansage makes a chattering noise of agreement as well from where it's been clinging onto his shoulder.]

Let's see... how should we put this car onto the rails...

[Emmet idly tosses the ball from one hand to the other as he thinks.]

Should we pass the ball between the four of us? Although Archeops isn't very good at throwing.

[Archeops cawws, and Emmet nods, recalling her. Out comes Eelektross! And Emmet runs for a distance away, to give some room to start throwing the ball around.]

Right! Let's play, then! All aboard!

Let's go, full speed ahead!

[Pansage takes that as it's cue to go ahead and jump down from Cilan's shoulder, back onto the ground to move into a good position to stand at. We're ready when you are!]

[And Emmet is ready! He tosses the ball to Pansage, first!]

Full steam ahead!

[cilantro]

[Pansage does a little jump to catch the tossed ball (and what sounds like a cheer in the equivalent of Pokemon speak), before the grass monkey then tosses it upward as high as it can towards Eelektross now for it to try to catch next.]

[Eelektross springs up, grabbing the ball before flinging it at Cilan, putting quite a spin on it with the way it had to throw from its fin.]

[cilantro]

[Whoa--Cilan just barely manages to catch that without it slipping through his fingers or missing entirely as he laughs a little.]

My, that toss had quite an energetic spin to it... [But that's okay, at least we managed to catch it and not embarrass ourselves too badly in the process as he then throws it back to Emmet now.]

That's the sort of throwing that Eelektross can do! It's interesting.

[And that Pokemon might have known Fling at one point...

Emmet catches, and tries to surprise Cilan by throwing it right back to him.]

Certainly; it reminds me a little of the move--[Oh wait, incoming ball, should probably be paying attention. Cilan reaches out a hand to catch it (and nearly drops it upon doing so, but thankfully manages to keep a hold of it) as he then tosses it to Eelektross next.]--Fling, which depending on how it's used and what items the user has, can be quite an effective taste in battle.

[We've even seen someone use the move for throwing rocks from an opponent's Stone Edge right back at them or even flinging the opponent themself... Too bad you can't actually do that in the games, though.]

Yes! Fling, I have encountered it on the Battle Subway many times. There are many great combinations that I have seen!

[Eelektross catches it, and throws it to Pansage!]

[Pansage has to run back a slight distance, but he manages to catch the tossed ball before he scampers back closer to toss it to Emmet now, while Cilan is still interested in the conversation at hand.]

I can imagine--were there any combinations in particular that were of exceptional note?

[What are the coolest moves or strategies you've seen people do in their Subway battles...]

Perhaps the most heart-stopping... an attack that has me hoping for my team's sturdiness and resolve, an Archeops holding a Flying Gem, and using the attack Acrobatics!

[Emmet throws it to Eelektross, who tosses it right back at Emmet. Backsies apparently, and Emmet then tosses it to Cilan.]

I see! That certainly would be a strategy with a thrilling taste! And one of curiosity too, getting to battle an opponent with a Pokemon you have as well, and how they work together in comparison to the marriage of teamwork you have with your own partner...

[Cilan catches the ball (probably the easiest catch he's been able to make this entire time) as he then tosses it to his Pansage. Pansage jumps and catches it, before now tossing it to Eelektross for it to catch again.]

[Eelektross catches it, and tosses to Emmet, who tosses to Pansage.]

Yes! My favorite thing, still, is seeing the combinations my challengers come up with. Wonderful balances, like a fire and grass type both under Sunny Day, or a flying and ground type paired together, with the ground type using Earthquake. I have seen many clever combinations!

[Aaahh, so cool~!] How exciting~! [internally--oh who are we kidding, he's expressing his interest out loud] The battles on the Battle Subway really do have such amazing flavors of combinations to taste, as the trainers dazzle the battlefield with unique combinations in order to arrive closer to the station of victory...

[Though, he's almost a little disappointed that he and Ash's strategies weren't quite as clever, now that he thinks about it--maybe if he had waited a little longer to do some more training first, then perhaps there would be a better chance of winning, but at the time it felt like the battle had to happen now or never. Not that he regrets having lost, since at least it was fun...and it's in the midst of talking and thinking to himself that he almost forgets that there's a ball getting thrown at him as Pansage tosses the ball to him now--it's aim is a little off and just barely avoids hitting him as it sails past his head. Pansage "eeps" a little before running past him to go fetch it back itself rather than making Cilan go after it, but it's quick to come back and hold the ball up to him, which he'll take after giving it a small pat on the head in thanks as he laughs a little awkwardly.]

Ahaha, my apologies, I suppose I should be paying more attention to what we're doing here. [Tossing the ball back over to Emmet now to catch.]

[Catch! And he tosses back to Cilan]

I can tell! You were thinking. Thinking about the next time you're going to challenge the Subway!

[Cilan laughs a little again.] Was it that obvious?

[He then tosses the ball to Eelektross as he speaks.] The next time I get the chance to visit Nimbasa again, challenging the Battle Subway once more will likely be one of my main priorities. Until then, I suppose I'll have to continue working on some strategies that'll bring out more interesting combinations with dazzling tastes when that time comes!
